The Lina Bo and P.M. Bardi Institute Is Suspending Visits to the Glass House
Beginning 2 October 2006, visits inside the Glass House will be suspended to allow for maintenance of the collection and the house itself. First, the house’s interior and the pieces of the collection will be given an anti-termite treatment by professional exterminators. Then, leaks will be fixed in the ceilings and walls, and the rusted-out rain gutters will be repaired. The external area under the living room where the main access stairs are located will also be closed due to the recent falling of fragments from the outer layer.

The Glass House, designed by Lina Bo Bardi in 1951, has not undergone maintenance since 1993. Since the house has been designated as an architectural heritage site by Condephaat and Iphan, both these agencies will be previously notified concerning the main maintenance procedures.

At this time it is not known when the work will be finished. Additional information may be obtained by telephone, (55-11) 3744-9902; at the Institute’s website, ; or by e-mail, institutobardi@institutobardi.com.br.
